Liam Gallagher Reveals Possible Punishment for Manchester City Over Premier League Breaches

Oasis frontman and Manchester City fan Liam Gallagher has claimed that the club could face a fine and transfer ban if its appeal against a Premier League disciplinary ruling fails.

Gallagher said a senior figure involved in the proceedings had told him that Manchester City would not be stripped of trophies won between 2009 and 2018 or expelled from the Premier League.

Manchester City were reportedly found guilty of 114 of 115 charges brought against them by the Premier League on Friday. However, the league has yet to announce the specific sanctions to be imposed on the club.

Gallagher disclosed the alleged punishment in a post on X on Sunday, claiming that City would receive a financial penalty and transfer ban if their appeal is unsuccessful.

“Just been told by someone in a very very high position if we lose our appeal which we won’t we’ll be getting a FINE and TRANSFER BAN and that’s it,” Gallagher wrote.

When questioned about revealing information relating to the case, the singer responded: “Just said it keep up.”

Manchester City are expected to appeal the ruling, with the process potentially extending into 2027.

Gallagher’s comments have not been presented as an official statement from Manchester City, the Premier League or the disciplinary body handling the case.

BBC Sport has also reported that there is little appetite within the Premier League and among its clubs to strip Manchester City of trophies already won during the period under investigation.

City won eight major trophies between 2009 and 2018, the period linked to the alleged regulatory breaches.
