Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer has played down speculation that the German champions could move for Erling Haaland if Manchester City are relegated from the Premier League over their ongoing financial charges case.
Speaking to German newspaper BILD on Sunday, Hainer was asked whether Bayern would consider signing the Norwegian striker if City were forced out of the English top flight.
Hainer said Bayern were already well equipped in attack, pointing to the quality of their current forwards.
“We have Kane, Olise, Diaz and more. We scored over 120 goals last season. So, I think we are very well equipped in attack,” he said.
Bayern’s attacking options include England captain Harry Kane, Michael Olise and Luis Díaz, with Hainer indicating that the club does not currently consider strengthening its forward line a priority.
However, he did not completely rule out the possibility of a future move, suggesting that the situation could change in the coming years.
“If we’re talking about the future in a few years, then there will be a new situation, and we’ll see,” Hainer added.
Manchester City continue to face a financial charges case, with potential sanctions dependent on the outcome of the proceedings and any subsequent appeals.
For now, Hainer’s comments suggest Bayern are not planning an immediate move for Haaland, despite speculation about City’s future.
