Ogunbote Plays Down Plateau United’s 4-0 Win Over Kano Pillars

Plateau United technical adviser Gbenga Ogunbote has urged his players to remain humble despite their emphatic 4-0 victory over Kano Pillars in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

The Peace Boys thrashed Kano Pillars at the New Jos Stadium on Sunday, handing their opponents their first defeat of the season.

Paul Samson, Ekundayo Ojo, Samuel Ayanrinde and Nenrot Silas scored for the hosts to seal the convincing victory.

Despite the result, Ogunbote warned his players against becoming carried away, stressing that the league campaign was still long.

“The league is a marathon. We won’t allow it to get into our heads. This is just one out of the 38 matches we are going to play this season,” he told reporters after the game.

The Plateau United coach described the win as an important result but maintained that his team must remain focused on the remaining fixtures.

He also expressed confidence that the club’s supporters would have more reasons to celebrate by the end of the season.

Plateau United will now turn their attention to their next fixture, where they are scheduled to host Sporting Lagos.
