Dwight Yorke Questions Carrick Over Benjamin Sesko’s Limited Role at Man United

Former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke has questioned manager Michael Carrick over his handling of Slovenian forward Benjamin Sesko, insisting that the striker deserves more regular playing time.

Yorke said he was puzzled by Carrick’s decision not to start Sesko consistently for the Red Devils, arguing that the forward possesses the qualities needed to lead the team’s attack.

Sesko has yet to start a Premier League match for Manchester United since returning from a shin injury, according to the report. His limited involvement has prompted questions about how the club intends to use him as the season progresses.

The Slovenian striker has, however, shown his potential when given opportunities. He scored after starting in Manchester United’s Champions League match against Sabah last month.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Yorke said Carrick needed to show greater confidence in the forward by deploying him as the team’s central striker.

“When you look at those players up top, for me, the big question mark there with Carrick, I don’t understand why Sesko doesn’t play,” Yorke said.

Acknowledging the player’s injury situation, the former United forward maintained that Sesko should be trusted to lead the attack when available.

“I know he is injured now, but you have got to play the guy as a nine. You have to trust the kid. He has all the attributes,” Yorke added.

Yorke’s comments come amid scrutiny of Manchester United’s attacking options and Carrick’s selection decisions. His assessment highlights the debate over whether Sesko should be given a more prominent role when fit enough to feature.

Manchester United were also scheduled to face Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday night, with attention on the team’s preparations and attacking choices ahead of the European fixture.
