The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has warned Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal against referring to him as “that guy,” while claiming that Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara is happy working with him.

Wike made the remarks on Tuesday during his monthly media chat in Abuja, where he spoke about his relationship with political figures and his current influence in Nigerian politics.

The FCT minister appeared to take issue with Lawal’s reference to him as “that guy” and warned that he could create political difficulties for Zamfara State.

“Governors in my party like the one who was calling me ‘that guy.’ I don’t want to remember him because if I put fire in his state, they’ll say I’m the one putting fire,” Wike said.

He added that although he was not contesting any election, he could still make things difficult for those who challenged him politically.

“I’m not contesting any election, but I can make you have heat, I’ll be laughing, but you’re having heat. You’re supposed to spend N10, but I’ll make you spend N50. It’s not necessary,” he stated.

Wike also dismissed suggestions that his political relevance had diminished, saying some people had assumed that his influence was over because of his current position.

“With the job that I have now, there are those who thought that all about Wike is gone,” he said.

On his relationship with Fubara, Wike claimed that the Rivers governor was happy working with him. He further argued that the key political concern for Fubara was whether he would contest an election, adding that the governor’s political team would retain power regardless.

“We and Fubara are working together, he is happy and what is important to Fubara now is whether he is running or not, his political team will still retain the power,” Wike said.

The remarks come amid continuing political interest in Wike’s relationship with Fubara and his influence in Rivers State, as well as his exchanges with other political leaders.
