Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca has confirmed that former manager Pep Guardiola is expected to return to the Etihad Stadium for the first time since leaving the club in the summer.
Guardiola stepped down after spending a decade in charge of the Premier League side, during which he established himself as a central figure in the club’s recent history.
The former City boss is expected to attend Wednesday night’s Champions League fixture against Paris Saint-Germain, marking his first return to the club since his departure.
Speaking ahead of the match, Maresca said Guardiola would always be welcome at the Etihad, regardless of his current role.
“It’s a nice feeling, especially for him because this has been his house for 10 years,” Maresca said.
“It’s still his house, for what he has done here,” he added, acknowledging Guardiola’s contribution to the club.
Guardiola’s expected appearance is likely to attract attention from City supporters, given his long association with the team and the influence he had during his tenure.
City’s meeting with PSG will also put the spotlight on Maresca as he leads the team into the European fixture, while Guardiola’s anticipated return adds another talking point ahead of kick-off
