Matawalle Gifts Vehicles to Eight Suspended Zamfara Lawmakers Ahead of 2027 Elections

The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, has provided vehicles to eight suspended members of the Zamfara State House of Assembly in a move aimed at supporting their political engagements and mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The vehicles are expected to ease the lawmakers’ transportation challenges and help them carry out political activities in their respective constituencies as efforts continue to strengthen unity among All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders in Zamfara State.

The gesture comes amid ongoing reconciliation efforts following a period of political disagreement involving the lawmakers and other party stakeholders.

President Bola Tinubu was reportedly said to have directed the lawmakers to return to Zamfara State and work towards strengthening party unity and cohesion ahead of the next general elections.

Matawalle, a former governor of Zamfara State, reportedly ordered the immediate release of the vehicles to support the lawmakers’ activities and political engagements.

Presenting the vehicles, the Managing Director of the Nigeria Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC), Yazid Shehu Danfulani, said the intervention was part of Matawalle’s efforts to promote unity, understanding and cooperation among APC members in the state.

Danfulani said the gesture demonstrated the minister’s commitment to bringing party stakeholders together and consolidating the APC’s position ahead of the 2027 elections.

Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, the leader of the suspended lawmakers, Aliyu Ango Kagara, thanked Matawalle for providing the vehicles. He pledged that the lawmakers would work towards President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

The development comes amid political efforts to strengthen the APC’s structure and mobilisation in Zamfara State. However, the lawmakers’ political status and the extent of their reconciliation with the party remain important details to clarify.
