Former Deputy Senate President and Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for Delta Central Senatorial District, Ovie Omo-Agege, has issued a strong warning against electoral malpractice ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Omo-Agege gave the warning during the flag-off of his campaign in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, where he declared that anyone who attempts to rig the election would face serious consequences.
Using strong language to express his opposition to electoral fraud, the former deputy Senate president said Nigerians would not allow their votes to be manipulated or stolen during the forthcoming elections.
“It’s rig and die. Anybody who tries to rig the 2027 election will face the consequences. We will not allow anyone to steal our votes,” he declared.
Omo-Agege maintained that the era of ballot manipulation should come to an end, arguing that voters have become more conscious of the electoral process and are prepared to defend their votes.
He also alleged that his campaign, family and supporters had faced intimidation and attacks. However, the allegations were not independently substantiated in the account of his remarks.
The NDC candidate appealed to security agencies and the international community to closely monitor political activities in Delta State to help ensure a credible electoral process ahead of the 2027 polls.
Omo-Agege further expressed confidence in his party’s chances, predicting that the NDC would defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State during the next general elections.
He urged supporters to mobilise behind his senatorial ambition and other NDC candidates, as political parties begin preparations for the 2027 elections.
