The Kaduna State Police Command has announced a restriction on the movement of heavy-duty vehicles across the state ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s scheduled visit for an All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign rally.

The restriction will run from midnight until 8 pm on Saturday, according to the police, as security agencies prepare for the presidential visit.

The state Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Rabiu, said the measure was introduced to ease traffic congestion and ensure smooth movement during the event.

Vehicles affected by the directive include trailers, fuel tankers, articulated trucks and other heavy-duty vehicles operating within Kaduna State.

The police command also said security personnel, working alongside other security agencies, would be deployed to protect the president, other dignitaries and members of the public attending or moving around the rally.

Residents were advised to avoid the rally venue unless they had essential business there, as authorities seek to manage crowd movement and maintain public order during the event.

The command further warned against political violence, thuggery, intimidation and the possession of dangerous weapons, urging political supporters to conduct themselves peacefully.

Heavy-duty vehicle operators were directed to use alternative routes throughout the restriction period. Rabiu also appealed to residents, political party supporters and media organisations to cooperate with security agencies to ensure a peaceful and orderly rally.
