AY Apologises After Cardiff Leg of UK Comedy Tour Fails to Hold as Expected

Nigerian comedian and actor Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, has apologised to fans who were disappointed after the Cardiff leg of his “AY Live: Single and Not Searching” UK tour failed to proceed as expected.

The event, scheduled for Sunday, October 25, 2026, at Valegate Retail Park in Cardiff, Wales, reportedly experienced hours of delays and confusion, leaving many ticket holders unable to watch the advertised performers.

In a statement shared on Instagram on Monday, AY explained that he and other comedians billed for the show had travelled to Cardiff and arrived at the venue but were unable to perform because of unresolved payment commitments with the organisers.

“My fellow comedians and I travelled to Cardiff to perform and eventually entered the venue. Unfortunately, unresolved payment commitments delayed our appearance, and by the time we arrived at the hall, most of the audience had left,” he said.

The comedian expressed regret over the incident, acknowledging that fans who purchased tickets deserved a better experience and timely communication from the organisers.

“You deserved a properly organised show and timely information. You should never have been caught in the middle of a payment dispute,” AY stated.

He also appealed to fans to consider his explanation of the circumstances surrounding the disruption before drawing conclusions about what happened, noting that he had addressed the issue in a video.

On compensation, AY called on the event organisers and the UK tour management to provide a clear resolution for affected ticket holders, including details of refund arrangements.

“I am calling on the organisers and our UK tour management to provide a clear resolution for ticket holders, including refund information,” he said.

He added that verified updates would be shared through his official communication channels.

The disruption reportedly triggered complaints from attendees on social media, with accounts of prolonged waiting, heated exchanges and the presence of police at the venue.

As of the time of filing this report, the organisers had not publicly explained the circumstances surrounding the disruption or announced refund arrangements.

The incident has left affected ticket holders awaiting clarification on what went wrong and how they will be compensated.
