A 40-year-old barber, Segun Oladapo, has been remanded at the Ilesa Correctional Centre in Osun State over allegations that he raped his 20-year-old niece and arranged for unidentified substances to be administered to her to prevent pregnancy.
Oladapo was arraigned before a magistrate’s court presided over by Magistrate Dr Segun Ayilara on Friday, October 16, 2026, alongside a second defendant, identified as Yetunde, who allegedly treated the victim after the reported incident.
According to DAILY POST, the victim, identified as God’sglory to protect her identity, had been living with her maternal family before moving into her uncle’s residence at Ilupeju Estate, Ofatedo, in Egbedore Local Government Area of Osun State.
The charge sheet reportedly stated that the young woman was subjected to a virginity check before her uncle agreed to accommodate her, allegedly under the pretext of providing care and securing her future.
Oladapo was accused of assaulting the victim on April 1, 2026, and subsequently arranging for Yetunde, described as a patent medicine operator, to administer treatment intended to prevent her from becoming pregnant.
Yetunde reportedly told investigators that she treated the victim for malaria and typhoid. However, the victim alleged that an intravenous drip containing unidentified substances was administered at her uncle’s instruction.
The young woman further alleged that Oladapo severely beat her and threatened to kill her if she disclosed the incident to anyone outside the family.
According to the report, attempts by the victim to seek assistance from family members did not lead to the matter being reported to the authorities. She was allegedly advised to keep the incident within the family.
The charge sheet also reportedly indicated that a second incident occurred about three weeks before the case was reported to the police.
The victim later confided in individuals who connected her with two female human rights activists in Osun State. The activists reportedly helped her report the case at the Ido-Osun Divisional Police Station on Saturday, October 10, 2026.
The matter was subsequently transferred to the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) for further investigation.
The victim has also requested the return of a blood-stained piece of clothing allegedly taken by Oladapo after the first incident.
Both defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.
Following the arraignment, Magistrate Ayilara ordered that Oladapo be remanded at the Ilesa Correctional Centre until November 30, 2026, when the case is scheduled to come up for hearing.
Yetunde was granted bail in the sum of ₦1 million, with a condition that she attend court until the next adjourned date.
The allegations remain before the court.
