Political stakeholders in Lagos State have launched an initiative aimed at reconciling aggrieved factions within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Alimosho Local Government Area.

The group, known as the Alimosho Founders Advisory Council (AFAC 79), said it was established to address internal disagreements, promote unity among party members and prevent further divisions within the ruling party.

Speaking at the council’s launch in Lagos on Friday, its chairman, Ade Babalola, said the initiative was a response to tensions among APC members in the area.

Babalola explained that the council intends to bring rival factions to the negotiating table and build a united political front ahead of future electoral contests.

He warned that persistent disagreements within the party could weaken its position and affect its ability to compete effectively against opposition parties.

The chairman also recalled internal disputes that he said affected the APC during the 2023 general elections, stressing the need to address differences before they escalate.

According to him, dialogue and reconciliation are necessary to strengthen cooperation among party members and promote a more coordinated political structure in Alimosho.

The initiative comes as political parties and stakeholders begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.

However, the launch of AFAC 79 does not mean that the disagreements within the Alimosho APC have been resolved. The council says it intends to continue engaging party members in pursuit of dialogue, peace and reconciliation.

Its efforts will focus on encouraging rival groups to resolve their differences and work towards greater unity within the party.
