The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Ekiti North Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections, Dr Olusegun Osinkolu, has promised inclusive and people-focused representation, pledging to prioritise youth empowerment, education, healthcare and agricultural development if elected.

Osinkolu said his ambition was to address what he described as years of neglect in the district, arguing that residents needed representation that would respond to their needs and attract more federal development projects.

The candidate made the remarks during a tour of the five local government areas in Ekiti North — Moba, Ido/Osi, Ilejemeje, Oye and Ikole — according to a statement he released in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday.

He attributed the district’s alleged underdevelopment to what he described as the nonchalant attitude of its representatives in the National Assembly, urging voters to use the 2027 election to demand a change in leadership.

“The 2027 senatorial election gives the people of this district the opportunity to effect change and redress the backwardness by voting right, voting for me as the right candidate, whether you belong to the PDP or not,” Osinkolu said.

He outlined his proposed priorities, including empowering young people and women, improving access to quality education and healthcare, supporting agriculture and promoting effective legislation to attract federal government projects to the district.

Osinkolu said his goal would be to ensure that the benefits of democracy reached communities across Ekiti North, adding that residents’ welfare would guide his decisions if he secured the mandate.

The PDP candidate also expressed confidence in his party’s prospects ahead of the 2027 elections, predicting a strong performance in the senatorial district. He commended party supporters for their commitment and urged members to maintain unity and strengthen grassroots mobilisation.

“The PDP will, no doubt, bounce back during the 2027 general elections with a convincing and landslide victory in Ekiti North Senatorial District,” he said.

Osinkolu called on party members to work together towards the elections, describing unity as essential to the party’s campaign. He pledged to justify the electorate’s confidence if elected, promising to make their interests central to his representation.
