Jigawa Police Arrest Barber Over Alleged Stabbing Death of 32-Year-Old Man

The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested a 29-year-old barber, Emmanuel Olatonok, over the alleged killing of a 32-year-old man, Ibrahim Shago, in Dutse, the state capital.

The police said the incident occurred around 5:45 p.m. on Thursday, October 29, in the Rafin Sanyi area of Dutse Local Government Area.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shiisu Lawan Adam, a disagreement reportedly broke out between the suspect and the deceased before Olatonok allegedly stabbed Shago in the neck with a knife.

The victim was subsequently rushed to a hospital for medical attention but was later pronounced dead by a doctor.

The incident reportedly triggered tension in the community, with some youths allegedly attempting to vandalise the hotel where the suspect worked. However, police officers intervened and restored calm to the area.

The suspect has been taken into police custody as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident continue.

The police said Olatonok would be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police has appealed to residents to settle disagreements peacefully and refrain from taking the law into their own hands.
