Jigawa Police Arrest Six Suspected Robbers, Recover 13 Phones, Cash in Jahun Investigation

The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested six suspected armed robbers and recovered 13 mobile phones and ₦102,500 in cash believed to be proceeds of a robbery in Jahun Local Government Area.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists on Tuesday in Dutse, the state capital.

Adam said the arrests followed investigations into armed robbery and burglary incidents reported in the Jahun Division on September 24, 2026.

According to the police spokesman, the incidents occurred at about 2am when armed men invaded two residences in Jahun.

He said the first attack took place at the residence of a 35-year-old man in Kofar Daru Quarters, where the suspects allegedly stole ₦20.18m in cash, iTel keypad phones valued at ₦13.13m, recharge cards worth ₦1m, Android phones and other valuables.

In a related incident, the suspects reportedly invaded the residence of a 37-year-old man in Shagari Quarters, Jahun, carting away two blankets, rice, a woman’s wrapper and ₦45,000 in cash.

Adam said detectives from the Jahun Division visited the crime scenes and immediately launched an investigation, which initially led to the arrest of five suspects.

The suspects were identified as Sale Ibrahim, 25; Abubakar Abdullahi, 28; Babangida Ya’u, 35; Babannan Hassan, 27; and Isah Isibu, 35.

The police spokesman said a further breakthrough was recorded on Thursday, October 15, when operatives of the Maigatari Division, working with the Border Patrol Team, arrested another suspect during a visibility patrol at Maigatari Market.

The suspect, identified as Isa Yusuf, 35, from Hantsu village in Miga Local Government Area, was reportedly found with 13 new iTel phones, 13 chargers, 13 batteries and ₦102,500 in cash.

According to Adam, the suspect confessed during interrogation at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Dutse to being a member of the criminal syndicate allegedly responsible for the Jahun robbery.

He added that investigations established that the recovered items were linked to the robbery incidents.

“The Command has intensified manhunt for the remaining fleeing suspects, while those arrested have been charged to court,” Adam said.

The police spokesman also said the Commissioner of Police, CP Tijjani Murtala, commended the officers involved for their professionalism and urged them to maintain pressure on criminal elements through stronger collaboration between police divisions.

The commissioner further called on residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information that could assist in apprehending fleeing suspects and recovering stolen property.
