Two people have died in separate road accidents in Aba, Abia State, while several others sustained injuries in the crashes recorded on Friday and Sunday.
The first accident occurred on Friday at the Osisioma Flyover junction, where a truck reportedly lost control and crashed into a shop and pedestrians in the busy area.
One male victim died at the scene, while about six other people were injured and taken to hospital for medical attention.
The Abia State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ngozi Ezeoma, confirmed the incident.
In a separate crash on Sunday morning, an unidentified man was reportedly knocked down by a speeding motorcycle along Port Harcourt Road while he was on his way to church.
The man died following the incident. No further details about the motorcycle operator or the circumstances surrounding the crash were provided.
The two accidents have raised fresh concerns about road safety in Aba, particularly around busy junctions and roads used by both motorists and pedestrians.
Motorists and motorcycle operators have been urged to obey traffic regulations, avoid excessive speed and exercise caution, especially in areas with heavy pedestrian movement.
