A container-laden truck crashed into road barriers and other vehicles at the exit of Kara Bridge on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Tuesday, causing a major traffic backlog along the busy route.
The truck, which was carrying a 40-foot container, reportedly suffered brake failure before ramming into demarcation blocks and nearby vehicles.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA) disclosed the incident in a post on its official X handle, urging motorists to remain patient as emergency teams worked to clear the obstruction.
According to the agency, the crash caused traffic to build up as far as New Garage, with recovery and evacuation operations already underway.
LASTMA also reported a separate crash on Kara Bridge inward Mowe, where a loaded trailer reportedly collided with a Sports Utility Vehicle.
Traffic officers and police personnel were deployed to both locations to manage the situation, assist with the recovery of the affected vehicles and ease the resulting congestion.
The agency appealed to motorists using the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway to exercise patience, assuring road users that all necessary efforts were being made to remove the obstructions and restore normal traffic flow.
