2027: Tinubu Support Group Mobilises South-South Youths, Women for Re-election

The South-South Zonal Coordinator of Tinubu Must Stay (TMS), Ogie Clement, has urged youths and women across the region to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, arguing that continuity is necessary to sustain ongoing development programmes.

Clement made the appeal on Friday at the TMS Town Hall Meeting and Industrial Training Workshop held at Tamara Hall in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

He said the gathering was designed not only to mobilise political support but also to promote skills acquisition, empowerment and economic opportunities for women and young people.

According to him, empowerment should go beyond political promises and provide practical skills that enable beneficiaries to become financially independent.

“Empowerment is not just a slogan. Empowerment is giving a young man a skill so he will not beg again. Empowerment is giving a woman a trade so she can feed her family with dignity,” Clement said.

He described Tinubu’s administration as one that had taken bold decisions, urging Nigerians to allow ongoing government programmes and projects to continue.

Clement claimed that the South-South region had benefited from the administration’s infrastructure and empowerment initiatives, citing the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and support for oil-producing communities.

“In the South-South, we have felt it. From the Coastal Highway to the empowerment programmes, to the support for our oil-producing communities, this administration has not forgotten us,” he stated.

The coordinator argued that Nigeria could not afford to abandon ongoing projects before completion, insisting that continuity was important for achieving national development goals.

“We cannot afford to stop a good work halfway. A farmer does not abandon his house at foundation level. Nigeria must finish what it started. That is why we say Tinubu Must Stay,” he said.

Addressing participants at the industrial training workshop, Clement encouraged beneficiaries to take advantage of the programme by acquiring relevant skills, asking questions and building useful professional networks.

He maintained that the TMS movement was not focused solely on political mobilisation but also on improving livelihoods through practical empowerment initiatives.

Clement also urged TMS coordinators across the six South-South states to strengthen grassroots mobilisation by taking the campaign to local government areas, wards and communities.

He called for unity among members and warned against attempts to divide the organisation or the region.

The coordinator thanked the Bayelsa State chapter for hosting the meeting and reaffirmed the group’s support for Tinubu, Vice-President Kashim Shettima and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.

Also speaking at the event, a political science lecturer at the Federal University Otuoke, Bayelsa State, Mr Chukwuebuka Okoye, appealed to Nigerians to give Tinubu more time to translate his economic reforms into improved living conditions.

Okoye compared the President’s reform agenda to farming, saying economic policies required time before their benefits could be fully realised.

“What the President is telling us is: Give me more time. You don’t plant a seed today and start to reap the fruits that same day,” he said.

However, he stressed that the expected benefits of the reforms must translate into affordable food, employment opportunities, reliable electricity and improved security.

Okoye also urged stakeholders in Bayelsa to communicate the development needs of their communities to the Federal Government ahead of the 2027 elections.
