Aisha Yesufu Warns Nigerians: Don’t Trust INEC Technology, Watch Election Results From Polling Units to Abuja

Activist Aisha Yesufu has urged Nigerians to take direct responsibility for monitoring election results, warning that citizens should not rely solely on the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) technology during elections.

Yesufu made the call in a post on X, where she urged voters and election observers to closely follow the entire result process, from the counting of ballots at polling units to the final collation in Abuja.

“The technology of INEC cannot be trusted! We will consider everything manual and analogue,” she said, stressing the need for Nigerians to pay close attention to how votes are counted and recorded on election day.

She specifically called on citizens to watch the counting process at polling units and monitor the completion of result sheets. According to her, vigilance at the earliest stage of the process is essential to ensuring that votes cast by Nigerians are accurately reflected in the final results.

Yesufu also urged citizens to track result sheets as they move through the different levels of collation — from polling units to wards, local government areas and state collation centres, before the results eventually reach Abuja.

“Follow our result sheets from polling unit to ward, LG, State collation centres and finally to Abuja,” she said.

The activist further insisted that election officials and result sheets should remain under close public scrutiny throughout the process. “In all of these no single official or result sheets must be out of our sights,” she said.

She called for nationwide participation, saying Nigerians should remain vigilant regardless of their location. “From the creeks to the deserts we will follow,” Yesufu said.

Her message comes as political discussions and preparations for Nigeria’s 2027 general elections gather momentum. She said the central objective of such vigilance should be to ensure that the votes cast by Nigerians are the same results eventually announced by electoral authorities.

“At the end we will all gather in Abuja and ensure that what the people voted is what is announced,” she said.
