The All Progressives Congress (APC) says it is targeting at least 80 per cent of votes in Sokoto State for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

Alhaji Yusuf Dingyadi, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the APC National Chairman, expressed confidence that the party would win the presidential election and all other elective positions in the state.

Dingyadi spoke on Sunday at Dundaye, headquarters of Dundaye District in Wamakko Local Government Area of Sokoto State, during an empowerment programme organised by the Managing Director of the Sokoto State Media Corporation, Alhaji Labaran Dundaye, for 300 beneficiaries.

“We have no doubt that we will win elections. By the grace of God, APC is going to win the State House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, Governorship and Presidency,” he said.

He added that the party expected to secure at least 80 per cent of the votes cast in Sokoto State.

The APC chieftain also expressed optimism about the party’s prospects across the North-West, claiming that the region had more than 20 million votes and that the party was targeting at least 15 million.

Dingyadi attributed the party’s confidence to its preparations for the elections, including the establishment of campaign committees at ward, local government and zonal levels. He also announced that the APC presidential campaign would be launched in Kaduna on October 24.

The event also featured the distribution of cash assistance to 300 people drawn from Dundaye, Gumburawa and Gidan Bubu districts. Dingyadi commended the initiative, describing support for vulnerable residents as an example of people-oriented leadership.

He urged political leaders to support their communities through empowerment programmes and encouraged Nigerians to contribute to local development rather than rely solely on government for social amenities.

In his remarks, Dundaye said the financial assistance was intended to complement the efforts of Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu to improve residents’ welfare and ease economic hardship. He also called on residents to support Tinubu, Aliyu, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko and other APC candidates in the 2027 elections.

Dundaye described the support as a way for residents to reciprocate what he said the federal and state governments had done for the people. Other speakers praised the empowerment programme and urged beneficiaries to use the money responsibly.

Some beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the assistance and pledged their continued support for the APC.

The party’s vote target comes ahead of the 2027 general elections, with Dingyadi presenting the figures as a projection of the APC’s expected performance rather than an election result.
