Ashmusy Breaks Silence on Phyna Fallout, Says Social Media Toxicity Made Her Consider Quitting

Content creator and actress Ashmusy has addressed the controversy surrounding her fallout with BBNaija winner Phyna, saying the backlash has left her questioning whether she wants to remain active on social media.

In a lengthy statement shared on her social media page, Ashmusy said she was saddened by the controversy and claimed she had spent years being misunderstood by the public.

The actress said she deliberately avoided drama and controversies throughout the year, choosing instead to focus on her personal life, filmmaking and content creation. She said she had also undergone a personal rebranding in an effort to stay away from unnecessary attention.

“I rebranded and made a conscious decision to stay away from trouble, drama and unnecessary noise. I’ve genuinely done my best to stay out of the news, both good and bad, and just focus on my life, my films and my content,” she wrote.

Ashmusy said she had accepted responsibility for her actions, including what she described as “over trusting”, while acknowledging that she was still learning and growing. She added that the latest controversy had made her consider permanently stepping away from social media.

According to the actress, the level of hostility and toxicity on social media can sometimes be difficult to understand. She said she had reached a point where she was no longer interested in convincing people to understand her or changing the opinions they hold about her.

“Moving forward, if I’m still here, please don’t involve me in anything that carries drama or misunderstandings. I don’t care what I stand to lose. I genuinely just want peace,” she stated.

Ashmusy also apologised to anyone she may have offended, either directly or indirectly, and expressed appreciation to those who continued to support her during the controversy.

Her comments come amid a public dispute with reality TV star and BBNaija winner Phyna, who recently accused Ashmusy of trying to edge her out of a deal connected to a celebrity boxing match. The disagreement has generated considerable discussion across social media.
