Atiku Abubakar: Nothing Can Stop Me From Winning 2027 Presidential Election

African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar has expressed confidence in his chances of winning the 2027 presidential election, saying he remains physically fit and energetic enough to pursue his political ambition.

Atiku, a former vice president, made the remarks during an interview with Jaji TV Hausa while reflecting on his long political career and previous electoral setbacks.

The former presidential candidate said losing elections had never made him abandon his ambition, noting that he had faced repeated setbacks before eventually winning the Adamawa State governorship election.

“I am fit, healthy and full of energy, nothing can stop me,” Atiku said, while arguing that repeated electoral defeats are not unusual in politics.

He recalled contesting the Adamawa governorship election four times before eventually succeeding on his fifth attempt. According to him, the earlier contests were cancelled under successive military administrations.

Atiku said his experience showed that political setbacks could be overcome with persistence. He also drew a comparison with former United States President Abraham Lincoln, who similarly suffered several electoral defeats before reaching the presidency.

“How many times did Abraham Lincoln lose elections before he finally became President of the United States?” he asked.

Atiku is expected to face a crowded field in the 2027 presidential race as opposition parties and political figures seek to challenge President Bola Tinubu. His declaration signals his determination to remain at the centre of the contest despite his previous unsuccessful bids for the presidency
