Ayodele Warns Tinubu Against October 1 Independence Parade, Says Event Could Be Dangerous

Primate Babatunde Ayodele has warned President Bola Tinubu against holding the October 1 Independence Day parade, claiming the event could pose a danger if it goes ahead.

Ayodele issued the warning in a video shared on X ahead of Nigeria’s 66th Independence anniversary.

“October 1st, President Tinubu should cancel the parade. If he attempts to go ahead with it, there is danger in it,” the cleric said.

His remarks come as the Federal Government prepares for the 66th Independence anniversary on October 1, 2026. The government has announced plans for a low-key celebration, with President Tinubu expected to address Nigerians as part of the anniversary activities.

Ayodele also urged Nigerians to be cautious about accepting gifts or other inducements from politicians ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He encouraged voters to make their decisions based on their conscience and the candidates they believe would serve the interests of the country.

“And to Nigerians, don’t collect anything from any politician because of the election. Vote your conscience. Vote for the right people. Vote for people who will truly serve the interest of the people,” he said.

The cleric further urged Nigerians to remain prayerful and vigilant.

Ayodele has made several political predictions and warnings in recent weeks concerning the 2027 elections and the Tinubu administration. His latest comments about the October 1 parade are his personal warning and do not, by themselves, establish that the event poses a security threat.
