Nigerian singer Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, popularly known as Ayra Starr, has said she would end a serious relationship if she became attracted to someone else rather than date two people at the same time.
The “Rush” singer made the comment while responding to a woman seeking advice about a similar relationship dilemma on the Ask Ayra Starr show.
Ayra Starr said that if she found another man more attractive while in a serious relationship, she would choose to end her existing relationship before pursuing anything with the new person.
“If I’m in a serious relationship with a guy and then I find another guy more attractive, I would break up with him instead of dating both of them at the same time,” she said.
The singer explained that she does not believe it is healthy to maintain romantic relationships with two people simultaneously. She advised taking time away from both situations to gain clarity before making a decision.
“I don’t think you can love two people. I think you need time to yourself so you can figure it out,” Ayra Starr added.
Addressing another relationship-related question, the singer urged people not to abandon their friends after entering romantic relationships.
She stressed that healthy relationships should allow room for both romantic partners and friendships, warning against situations where a partner attempts to isolate someone from their friends.
“You should never abandon your friends because you are in love. Your partner should not isolate you from your friends because you are in a relationship,” she said.
Ayra Starr added that people should strive for a balance between their friendships and romantic relationships rather than allowing one to completely replace the other.
