Blessing CEO Reacts to Alex Ekubo’s Death After Stage 4 Cancer Battle

Shock and grief swept across Nigeria’s entertainment industry after reports emerged that popular Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo died on Monday following a battle with stage 4 liver cancer.

The actor was said to have passed away in a Lagos hospital after quietly battling the illness away from the public eye, triggering an outpouring of reactions from fans, colleagues and celebrities across social media.

Among those who reacted was controversial relationship commentator Blessing CEO, who shared an emotional message on Instagram shortly after news of the actor’s death surfaced.

Posting a photo of the late actor, she wrote: “God will punish cancer. We waited for u to show up. You fought silently. Rest in peace.”

Her reaction quickly drew attention online, especially because of her own recent controversy involving claims that she was battling stage 4 breast cancer.

Back in March 2026, Blessing CEO publicly appealed for financial assistance for chemotherapy treatment, claiming she had been diagnosed with advanced breast cancer.

The claim later sparked widespread controversy after the Nigerian Medical Association accused her of allegedly altering another patient’s medical report from Xinus Medical Diagnostics.

The disputed report was reportedly signed by consultant pathologist Dr. O.A. Odigwe, with critics questioning the authenticity of the documents she presented online.

The controversy deepened after social media activist VeryDarkMan submitted a petition approved by the Inspector-General of Police, requesting an investigation into the matter.

Meanwhile, tributes continue to pour in for Alex Ekubo, whose death has left many fans mourning one of Nollywood’s most recognisable faces.
