Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Policy Communication, has reacted to criticism of Peter Obi by Arise Television anchor Rufai Oseni over the opposition politician’s preparedness for the 2027 presidential election.
Oseni raised concerns about Obi’s political activities and readiness for the next election during the television station’s morning programme on Friday.
The broadcaster questioned the state of Obi’s relationship with the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and the OK Movement, alleging that divisions within the opposition camp could pose challenges for the former Anambra State governor.
Oseni also questioned the absence of a publicly presented manifesto, asking what Obi would offer Nigerians ahead of the 2027 presidential race.
The Arise TV anchor further criticised what he described as inconsistencies in Obi’s position on petrol subsidy removal. According to Oseni, Obi had previously indicated support for retaining the subsidy but had more recently suggested removing it after addressing corruption associated with the system.
Oseni also claimed that Obi had lost some of the supporters who backed him during the previous election cycle. He questioned how the former governor would navigate the political landscape ahead of the January elections.
Reacting in a post on his official X account, Bwala described Oseni’s remarks as a “confessional statement,” suggesting that the criticism reflected a growing recognition of the challenges facing the opposition.
“Confessional statement is admissible in court. Lolll eyes Dey clear small small,” Bwala wrote while sharing a video of Oseni’s comments.
Bwala’s response adds another dimension to the political debate surrounding Obi’s preparations for 2027, as questions continue to emerge over opposition unity, campaign messaging and the strategies potential challengers may adopt against President Tinubu.
