Christy Ucheibe’s First Al-Hilal Goal Nominated for Saudi League Award

Super Falcons midfielder Christy Ucheibe has received another boost to her impressive start in Saudi Arabia after her first goal for Al-Hilal was nominated for the Saudi Women’s Premier League Goal of the Week award.

Ucheibe scored with a well-timed header during Al-Hilal’s emphatic 6–0 victory over Al-Taraji, making her mark in just her third consecutive league appearance for the Saudi club.

The goal was the Nigerian international’s first since joining Al-Hilal from Portuguese champions Benfica during the summer. Her quick impact has added to the growing attention around her move to the Saudi Women’s Premier League.

The 25-year-old midfielder signed a two-year contract with Al-Hilal, which will keep her at the club until 2028. The transfer brought an end to her six-year spell with Benfica.

Ucheibe made 91 appearances for Benfica and won several domestic honours during her time in Portugal. She now has the chance to add another individual recognition to her growing list of achievements.

At international level, Ucheibe has become an important member of the Super Falcons, earning 32 caps and scoring three goals for Nigeria. She was also part of the squad that won the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

Her nomination comes as she continues to settle into life in Saudi Arabia, with her first Al-Hilal goal now in contention for the league’s weekly award. The recognition could provide another highlight in what has been a promising start to her new chapter.
