Delta Police Arrest 25-Year-Old Man, Recover Locally Made Gun During Ozoro Patrol

A routine patrol by operatives of the Ozoro Police Division in Delta State has led to the arrest of a 25-year-old man and the recovery of a locally made firearm.

The suspect, identified as Yakubu Musa, was apprehended on July 25, 2026, along Alaka Road in Ozoro, Isoko North Local Government Area, after police officers intercepted him carrying roofing sheets suspected to have been stolen.

According to the Delta State Police Command, officers became suspicious after Musa failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for how he came into possession of the roofing materials.

Further investigation prompted a search of the suspect’s residence, where operatives recovered a cut-to-size single-barrel gun believed to be locally made.

Confirming the incident in a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, said the suspect remains in police custody while investigations continue.

“On 25 July 2026, operatives of Ozoro Division, while on routine township patrol along Alaka Road, Ozoro, intercepted one Yakubu Musa, 25, carrying roofing sheets suspected to have been stolen,” Edafe stated.

He added that a search of the suspect’s residence led to the recovery of the firearm after he failed to give a credible account of the items found in his possession.

Police said the investigation is ongoing to determine the origin of the roofing sheets, the recovered weapon, and whether the suspect is linked to other criminal activities in the area.
