Ebonyi Is Open for Business, Nwifuru Declares After China Trip as Investors Eye Major Projects

Governor Francis Nwifuru has reaffirmed Ebonyi State’s commitment to attracting both local and foreign investors, declaring the state one of Nigeria’s safest and most promising investment destinations after returning from a nine-day official visit to China.

Speaking during a thanksgiving service at the Government House Chapel in Abakaliki on Sunday, the governor said the trip produced encouraging results, with several high-level meetings held with government officials and business leaders interested in investing in Ebonyi.

Describing the visit as highly productive, Nwifuru said the delegation received a warm welcome from the provincial governments of Hunan and Jiangsu. He noted that the engagements opened fresh opportunities for partnerships that could accelerate infrastructure development, industrial growth and economic expansion across the state.

“The outcome of our visit to China was very fruitful,” the governor said. “It was by the grace of God that we were able to achieve so much during the tour. We were warmly received by the provincial governments of Hunan and Jiangsu.”

According to him, discussions with prospective investors reflected growing confidence in Ebonyi’s business environment. He added that several Chinese government and private sector representatives expressed interest in establishing investments that would contribute to the state’s long-term development.

Nwifuru also attributed his administration’s achievements over the past three years to divine guidance and the support of Ebonyi residents. While acknowledging that no government is perfect, he pledged to continue pursuing policies aimed at improving the lives of citizens.

“We are not perfect, but we pray for more grace to keep pushing in the best interest of our state,” he said. “It is God’s grace that has protected and guided us. With your prayers and practical support, we have made tangible progress.”

Addressing growing political discussions ahead of the 2027 elections, the governor urged residents not to be distracted by speculation. He assured the people that his administration remains focused on delivering its development agenda and maintaining stability in governance.

“The wheel of governance is running smoothly till 2031. Let us not worry unnecessarily; let us continue to trust in God,” Nwifuru said.

The governor’s remarks come as several Nigerian states intensify efforts to attract foreign direct investment through international partnerships, particularly in infrastructure, manufacturing, agriculture and solid minerals.
