FCC Assures Nigerians No State Will Be Shortchanged in Federal Jobs

The Federal Character Commission (FCC) has assured Nigerians that no state will be denied its fair share of federal government employment opportunities under the federal character principle.

FCC Executive Chairman, Mrs Ayo Omidiran, gave the assurance in Enugu on Thursday during an enlightenment programme attended by thousands of youths from across the state.

The programme, tagged “Beyond Quotas: Unlocking Opportunities for Enugu Youths Through the Federal Character Commission,” was organised under the Youth Connect initiative convened by the FCC Commissioner representing Enugu State, Hon. Peter Eze.

Addressing participants at the event, Omidiran said the commission would not tolerate government agencies short-changing any state in the distribution of employment opportunities.

She said the FCC remained committed to ensuring fairness and equity in the implementation of the federal character principle across government institutions.

Omidiran urged young Nigerians to become familiar with the opportunities available through federal government agencies and understand how the federal character system affects recruitment.

The commission’s engagement with youths in Enugu is aimed at improving public awareness of its mandate and helping young people better understand how employment opportunities in federal institutions are distributed.

The FCC is constitutionally mandated to promote and monitor compliance with the federal character principle, which seeks to ensure equitable representation of Nigeria’s states and other groups in public institutions.

Omidiran reaffirmed that the commission would continue to engage government agencies to ensure that recruitment processes comply with the principle and that no state is unfairly excluded
