Former Edo PDP Chairman Dan Osi Orbih Dies at 64

Former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Edo State, Chief Dan Osi Orbih, has died at the age of 64.

Orbih, who also served as the PDP National Vice Chairman for the South-South, died on Monday, August 31, 2026, according to a family announcement.

The death was made public by Francis Udukhomoi Orbih, a member of the family, in a statement shared on Facebook by Lere Olayinka, Chief Press Secretary to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

The family described Orbih as a beloved brother, husband, father and uncle, and said he died in total submission to the will of God. It also appealed to relatives, friends and well-wishers to remember the family in their prayers.

Orbih is survived by his wife, Mrs Florence Orbih, and two children, Ms Winifred Anwosiobor Orbih and Dr Mildred Omonemi Orbih. His siblings and other members of his extended family also survive him.

Until his death, Orbih was the Chairman of the Governing Council of Ambrose Alli University, AAU, Ekpoma. He was also known as a close political associate of Wike.

Orbih was born on October 27, 1961, in Ogbona, Etsako Central Local Government Area of Edo State. The family said details of his funeral arrangements would be announced later.
