Four Yobe Youths Die in Algeria While Seeking Livelihood Opportunities

Four young men from Tsangai village in Moyori Ward, Yusufari Local Government Area of Yobe State, have died in Algeria after travelling there in search of livelihood opportunities.

The deaths were confirmed in a condolence statement issued by the Executive Chairman of Yusufari Local Government, Adam Jibrin, on Tuesday, September 28, 2026.

Jibrin said the deaths had plunged the families, community and people of Yusufari into mourning, describing the deceased as promising young men who had travelled abroad in search of a better future.

“It is with profound sadness and a deeply heavy heart that I received the heartbreaking news of the passing of four promising young men from Garin Tsangai, Moyori Ward, Yusufari Local Government,” he said.

According to the chairman, the four men had left Nigeria for Algeria in pursuit of better livelihood opportunities for themselves and their families.

He described their deaths as an “untimely departure” and a painful loss to their relatives and the wider Yusufari community.

Jibrin extended his condolences to the parents, siblings, relatives and friends of the deceased, while praying for Allah to grant the four men eternal rest and give their families the strength to cope with the loss.

The chairman also prayed for the safety of young Nigerians travelling in search of opportunities abroad and called for divine protection for communities against further tragedies.

No details were immediately provided on the cause of death, circumstances surrounding the incident or arrangements for the return of the bodies to Nigeria.
