Nollywood star Funke Akindele has dismissed claims that she snubbed Fuji music icon Pasuma during a recent Lagos event, shutting down a viral social media narrative that sparked heated reactions online.
The controversy began after a video circulated on X showing the actress engaged in conversation with another guest while Pasuma appeared to be trying to get her attention. The moment quickly fueled speculation that she deliberately ignored the veteran musician.
As the clip spread, some users interpreted her body language as disrespectful, with one influencer describing it as a public snub. The post added fuel to growing online debate about celebrity etiquette at public events.
However, Akindele responded directly, rejecting the allegations and insisting the situation had been misrepresented. She clarified that there was no disrespect and that she interacted warmly with the Fuji star at the same event.
“Snub? Hell no. Stop the negativity pls. I saw him, greeted him, danced with him. pasuma is my Egbon. Pls you all should stop this evil,” she wrote, firmly denying the viral claim.
Pasuma, one of Nigeria’s most respected Fuji performers, had been seen in the clip briefly returning to his seat after the interaction, which further intensified online speculation before Akindele’s clarification.
The incident highlights how quickly short social media clips can escalate into public controversy, especially involving high-profile figures in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
Akindele has faced similar online scrutiny before, including recent discussions around her interactions with fellow actress Toyin Abraham at a movie premiere, which also generated debate among fans.
Despite the noise, the actress maintained her focus on correcting what she described as misinformation, urging the public to avoid spreading negativity based on incomplete context.
