Ikeja Electric Apologises Over Failure to Meet 20-Hour Power Supply Target for Band A Customers

Ikeja Electric has apologised to customers on some Band A feeders after failing to meet the minimum daily electricity supply requirement of 20 hours on November 3 and 4, 2026.

The electricity distribution company announced this in a notice published on its official X account, @IkejaElectric, on Thursday.

In the statement, the company expressed regret over its inability to provide the expected minimum electricity supply hours to customers on the affected feeders during the two-day period.

“Dear esteemed customer, we apologise for falling short of the expected minimum service level of 20 hours on the Band A feeders below for November 3rd and 4th, 2026,” the company stated.

The shortfall means affected customers did not receive the minimum electricity supply required under the Band A service category, which provides for at least 20 hours of power daily under Nigeria’s service-based electricity tariff structure.

However, Ikeja Electric did not provide further details in the announcement about the specific feeders affected or the reasons for the supply disruptions.

The latest apology comes amid recurring complaints about electricity supply shortfalls affecting some Band A customers within the company’s franchise area.

In a separate public safety advisory, Ikeja Electric also warned residents against trading, constructing buildings or erecting structures beneath or close to electricity transmission lines.

The company described power line corridors as high-risk areas, cautioning that activities around electrical infrastructure could expose individuals and communities to serious danger.

It urged residents to maintain the recommended safety clearance around power lines and avoid using the corridors for trading, construction or other activities that could compromise public safety.

“Stay clear. Stay safe. Your life matters!” the company advised.

Ikeja Electric also encouraged members of the public to contact its dedicated channels for safety guidance and further enquiries, stressing the importance of observing precautions around electricity infrastructure to protect lives and property.
