Imo Security Operative Caught on Camera Allegedly Demanding ₦10,000 Bribe

A security operative at a checkpoint in Imo State has been captured in a viral video allegedly demanding a ₦10,000 bribe from a motorist after confiscating the man’s mobile phone, apparently unaware that the device was still recording.

The footage, which has been circulating on social media, reportedly shows the unidentified operative seated inside a vehicle while speaking to the victim after seizing his phone.

In the video, the operative is heard instructing the motorist to obtain money from the vehicle’s driver.

“Go and collect ₦10,000 from your driver. Tell the driver to borrow you ₦10,000,” the operative allegedly said.

Phone allegedly recorded encounter

The officer appeared unaware that the confiscated phone’s camera remained active, capturing both his face and the conversation during the alleged extortion attempt.

According to reports, the victim had been stopped at a checkpoint in Imo State before the demand for money was allegedly made.

The recording has since gained attention online, with many social media users calling for an investigation into the incident and appropriate disciplinary action if the allegations are confirmed.
