President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has departed Abuja for Makkah, Saudi Arabia, to perform Umrah, an Islamic pilgrimage involving prayers and spiritual reflection.

The President left the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on Thursday afternoon, October 29, according to the report.

The Presidency said the trip is intended to provide an opportunity for spiritual reflection and prayers for Nigeria.

During the pilgrimage, Tinubu is expected to pray for the country’s peace, unity and progress amid ongoing national challenges.

Umrah involves visiting the holy city of Makkah and performing specific religious rites. Unlike Hajj, which takes place during a designated period of the Islamic calendar, Umrah can be performed at different times of the year.

Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria after completing the Umrah rites. However, the report did not specify his expected return date or provide further details about his itinerary.
