The Imole Campaign Council has pledged to mobilise 1.5 million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, following the appointment of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke as the state coordinator of the president’s re-election campaign.

The council, through its Director-General, Senator Olalere Oyewumi, welcomed Adeleke’s inclusion in the revised All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council list for the 2027 election, describing the appointment as recognition of the governor’s political influence in Osun State.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Oyewumi said the council was confident that the existing political structure of the Accord Party in Osun would support efforts to secure Tinubu’s victory at the polls.

“The Imole Campaign Council welcomes the appointment of Governor Adeleke as State Coordinator of the PBAT Presidential Campaign Council in Osun,” Oyewumi said.

He described the appointment as well deserved and assured the president that his confidence in Adeleke’s ability to deliver electoral support from Osun would not be misplaced.

“We promise the President, just like Governor Adeleke said some time ago, that we will deliver 1.5 million votes to ensure his victory in the coming presidential election,” the statement quoted Oyewumi as saying.

The revised campaign council list also includes the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike; Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori; and Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, among other political figures.

The Imole Campaign Council also urged residents of Osun to support Adeleke, arguing that backing Tinubu’s re-election bid would align with support for the state governor. “A vote for President Tinubu is a support for Governor Adeleke,” the council stated, while urging the electorate to trust the governor to continue delivering on his campaign promises.

Adeleke, who contested the Osun governorship election on the platform of the Accord Party, was declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission’s state returning officer, Professor Joshua Ogunwole. He polled 511,067 votes to defeat the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who secured 444,815 votes.

The council’s pledge sets an ambitious target for Tinubu’s campaign in Osun ahead of the 2027 presidential election. Whether the group can translate its stated commitment into votes will depend on its mobilisation efforts and the response of voters across the state.
