Former Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole believes Arsenal’s chances of winning the Premier League title could depend on whether they secure the signing of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen.
Cole said the Gunners still lack a top-class number nine capable of delivering consistent goals at the highest level, arguing that Manchester City could reclaim the league crown if Arsenal fail to strengthen their attack.
Speaking on the Dressing Room podcast, the former England international said he would change his title prediction if Arsenal managed to bring Osimhen to the Emirates Stadium.
“I think Manchester City win the title if they don’t bring in a number nine because I still think that will be a problem for them,” Cole said.
He added: “If they sign Victor Osimhen, I would change my prediction. As it stands, my choice is Manchester City.”
Osimhen has developed into one of Europe’s most feared strikers since helping Napoli win the Serie A title in 2023. The Nigerian forward has continued his impressive form at Galatasaray, where he has played a key role in the club’s recent domestic success.
The 27-year-old has scored 61 goals and provided 16 assists in 75 appearances for the Turkish giants. He has also won two Turkish league titles and one Turkish Cup since joining the club.
Osimhen’s current contract with Galatasaray runs until June 2029, meaning any potential move would likely require a major financial commitment from interested clubs.
Arsenal have been searching for a proven goalscorer capable of leading their attack, while Manchester City remain one of the strongest contenders for the Premier League title.
Cole’s comments add further attention to Osimhen’s future, with the striker continuing to attract interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
