Joeboy Reveals Why He Would Prefer Early Marriage, Says Fans May Only Know After Three Kids

Nigerian music star Joseph Akinwale Akinfenwa-Donus, popularly known as Joeboy, has revealed that he would prefer to get married early, saying he likes the idea of having teenage children while still in his 40s.

The 29-year-old singer shared his views during an interview with British media personality Madame Joyce, where he discussed marriage and how his perspective on settling down has evolved.

Joeboy said comments made by Nollywood actor Timini Egbuson influenced his thinking. He recalled an interview in which Egbuson, despite being known publicly as a ladies’ man, expressed regret that he did not marry earlier.

The singer said Egbuson’s admission made him reconsider the advantages of starting a family at a younger age.

“I was like, if you’re a playboy and you can say this, that means marrying early might actually be nice,” Joeboy said.

He explained that marrying young to someone he genuinely loves appeals to him, particularly because it could mean having grown-up children while he is still relatively young.

“Being 40 and having a 16-year-old kid is cute,” he said, while stressing that marriage should ultimately be based on love and personal readiness rather than simply following a trend.

Despite his preference for early marriage, Joeboy said he would keep such a development away from the public if he were to marry now. He suggested that his fans might only discover he had settled down much later.

“If I get married right now, nobody is going to know,” he said. “Maybe when I have like three kids, people will now find out that Joeboy has a whole family somewhere.”

The singer’s comments come as marriage and family life remain frequent topics of public discussion among Nigerian entertainers, many of whom have chosen different paths when it comes to relationships, privacy and settling down.
