Kaduna Road Crash Claims Two Lives on Western Bypass as FRSC Raises Alarm Over Reckless Driving

Two people have lost their lives in a fatal road traffic crash along the Kaduna Western Bypass, in an incident that has once again raised concerns about safety on busy Nigerian highways.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kaduna Sector Command, confirmed the accident occurred on Sunday at about 1:45 p.m. near the Federal Eye Centre junction. The crash involved a DAF truck, a Honda vehicle, and a motorcycle.

Sector Commander Andre Longkam said preliminary investigations indicate that the Honda vehicle struck the motorcycle, resulting in the immediate death of the rider and a passenger.

Emergency responders from the FRSC, working in coordination with the police, were quickly deployed to the scene to clear the wreckage and restore traffic flow along the heavily used corridor.

Authorities say the swift response helped prevent further accidents and reduced the risk of secondary collisions on the already congested route.

Longkam expressed concern over the recurring nature of crashes in the area, urging motorists to adopt stricter caution while driving, especially on roads undergoing construction or rehabilitation.

He warned drivers against speeding and other reckless behaviours, stressing that adherence to traffic rules remains critical to reducing avoidable deaths on Nigerian roads.

The FRSC commander confirmed that investigations are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances that led to the crash, adding that the command remains committed to improving road safety and reducing fatalities across Kaduna State.
