Liverpool Football Club have released a new biography celebrating the life and legacy of former forward Diogo Jota, with all profits earmarked to support a grassroots football programme being established in his name through the LFC Foundation.
The book, titled Forever in Our Hearts, was written by Portuguese author and former professional footballer José Delgado and published by Reach Sport. Liverpool announced the release in a post on the club’s official X account on Thursday.
The biography traces Jota’s journey from his early years in Portugal to becoming one of his generation’s admired footballers and a cherished member of Liverpool’s squad. It features accounts from family members, friends, teammates and coaches who knew him personally.
Among those who contributed are Jota’s wife, Rute, his parents, Isabel and Joaquim, and former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp, alongside more than 90 other people who shared memories of the late forward.
Through their recollections, the book offers an intimate account of Jota’s personality, highlighting his talent, determination, humility and the relationships that shaped his life and career. It also celebrates his close bond with his brother, André Silva, and the impact both men had on teammates, supporters and the wider football community.
Jota enjoyed a successful career that included Premier League honours with Liverpool and UEFA Nations League success with Portugal. His performances and contributions to the teams he represented earned him widespread admiration among football fans.
However, the biography also reflects on the tragic deaths of Jota and his brother in July 2025, following Jota’s marriage to his childhood sweetheart, Rute. Their deaths prompted an outpouring of grief and tributes from across the football world.
Delgado said the project began as an opportunity to preserve Jota’s memory during a period of profound sadness. He explained that his aim was to tell the brothers’ story with care, honesty and respect for their family and friends, whose recollections helped capture the affection they inspired.
The biography is available through official Liverpool FC stores and online. By directing all profits towards the grassroots programme being established in Jota’s name, the club hopes to preserve his legacy while creating opportunities for future generations to participate in football.
The release follows Liverpool’s unveiling of a permanent memorial outside Anfield earlier in 2026, giving supporters a place to remember Jota and André. Together, the memorial and the new book form part of the club’s efforts to ensure their influence endures beyond their lives and achievements on the pitch.
