Madagascar Send Fearless Warning to Super Eagles Ahead of 2027 AFCON Qualifier in Uyo

Madagascar have arrived in Nigeria with no intention of being overawed by the Super Eagles as both teams prepare for their opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match in Uyo on Friday.

Barea midfielder Rayan Raveloson says Madagascar will approach the fixture with confidence despite the strength and experience in Nigeria’s squad. The midfielder and his teammates arrived in Nigeria on Monday ahead of the crucial qualifier.

Raveloson acknowledged the quality of the Super Eagles, with particular attention on striker Victor Osimhen. However, Nigeria’s star forward is unavailable for the match after being ruled out through injury.

The absence of Osimhen has not changed Madagascar’s approach to the game. Raveloson said his team would not allow Nigeria’s reputation or squad depth to create fear as they prepare for their first qualifying test.

Nigeria, meanwhile, are looking to turn their individual quality into a positive start to the qualifying campaign. Head coach Eric Chelle has already begun preparations, with 23 players involved in the Super Eagles’ first training session in Uyo.

The Friday encounter will be Nigeria’s first major step in the 2027 AFCON qualification campaign. The Super Eagles will then travel to face Guinea-Bissau in their next qualifying fixture.
