Mama Pee Urges Nigerians to Boycott Tyla’s Lagos Concert Over Silence on Xenophobic Attacks

Nigerian influencer and human rights activist Oruche Ogeamara Precious, popularly known as Mama Pee, has called on South African music star Tyla to stay away from Nigeria, accusing the singer of remaining silent over the wave of xenophobic attacks targeting Nigerians and other African nationals in South Africa.

Mama Pee made the remarks on Thursday after Tyla unveiled her APOP World Tour, which includes a scheduled performance in Lagos on December 22. The activist argued that the concert should not go ahead while Nigerians continue to face violent attacks in South Africa.

The latest anti-foreigner campaign in South Africa, which reportedly began in April 2026, has heightened tensions across the continent. Videos showing attacks on foreign nationals, including reports of Nigerians being killed, have sparked widespread outrage and renewed calls for stronger diplomatic action.

Reacting on Instagram, Mama Pee questioned why Tyla had not publicly condemned the violence, insisting that the singer’s silence was unacceptable given the gravity of the situation.

“So Tyla will come to Nigeria pass our immigration peacefully? And we will buy tickets to go and see her??? As per?” she wrote.

She also referred to the recent death of a Nigerian allegedly killed by South African police, saying the incident made Tyla’s silence even more troubling.

“A young man has just been strangled by the police in her country… she hasn’t said a word, but she and her fellow human-hunting crew can come and sing for us so we dance here while our people bleed and scream in fear over there?” Mama Pee stated.

Calling on Nigerians to stand in solidarity with victims of the attacks, the activist urged fans to reject the planned concert.

“Our feelings are valid. No gaslighting over here. Tyla should stay back in her human hunting country. Her silence in the face of grave injustice is loud enough,” she wrote, adding: “If na only this one we fit do as our government no know themselves, make we do am. I stand with Nigerians. Stay back in your country.”

Tyla has not publicly responded to Mama Pee’s comments or addressed the criticism over her silence on the ongoing xenophobic attacks as of the time of filing this report.
