‘Nigeria Needs No Opposition Now’ – Ex-Taraba Deputy Governor Urges Atiku, Peter Obi to Join APC

A former Deputy Governor of Taraba State, Alhaji Armayau Abubakar, has called on Nigeria’s opposition leaders, including Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, to abandon partisan politics and support the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Speaking in Abuja on Tuesday, the Federal Character Commission commissioner argued that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has gained overwhelming political dominance across the country, leaving little room for a viable opposition.

Abubakar said the achievements recorded by the Tinubu administration were evident and challenged opposition parties to point to areas where they believe the government has failed. He maintained that the APC had already positioned itself far ahead of its political rivals.

“My message to the opposition is that it is high time at this moment in time to join the winning party, the APC. Tinubu’s achievements are very glaring. What can the opposition say against Mr President? I believe there’s nothing. So it is up to them to join the moving trend, the canoe of Noah, so that we can together move and reach the promised land,” he said.

The former deputy governor also pointed to the number of governors, lawmakers and state assembly members aligned with the APC as proof of the party’s growing influence. According to him, these political developments demonstrate that Nigerians have overwhelmingly embraced the ruling party.

He added that the APC has moved “hundreds of miles” ahead of the opposition, comparing the ruling party to the Atlantic Ocean while describing opposition parties as insignificant in comparison.

Echoing similar sentiments, Dayo Fasola, National Women Leader of the Renewed Hope People Advocacy and an APC women advocate, claimed there is virtually no opposition capable of challenging President Tinubu ahead of the next general election.

Fasola said the absence of a coordinated opposition has made the task of campaigning for Tinubu’s re-election much easier. “Sincerely, I feel this game is not going to be fair because the opposition is more or less non-existent. They are not giving us a good run for the money. They are not coordinated. The coordination is non-existent, and it’s a pity. But then, when God wants to complete your mission, He makes it easy. There’s zero opposition,” she stated.
