Nigerian Navy Lieutenant, Driver Arrested in Rivers with 248 Moulds of Suspected Cannabis

A Nigerian Navy lieutenant and a 51-year-old driver have been arrested in Rivers State after security operatives allegedly discovered 248 moulds of suspected cannabis in a vehicle travelling along the East-West Road.

The arrest was reported by security analyst Zagazola Makama, who said operatives of the Safer Highway Patrol intercepted the vehicle during an operation on the busy highway.

Five large bags, commonly known as “Ghana-Must-Go” bags, were allegedly found in the vehicle. The bags reportedly contained the suspected cannabis, said to be popularly known as “Scottish Loud.”

The driver, identified as Felix Dickson, was reportedly travelling from Lagos to Port Harcourt when the patrol team stopped the vehicle and carried out a search.

Dickson, who is from Owhe Community in Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, was subsequently taken into custody alongside the Nigerian Navy officer.

During preliminary questioning, Makama said the driver allegedly told investigators that he had been contracted by the naval officer to drive the vehicle and deliver the consignment to Port Harcourt.

The suspects and the recovered exhibits have since been taken into custody as authorities continue investigations into the alleged drug trafficking operation.

Investigators are now working to establish the source of the suspected cannabis and determine whether other individuals were involved in transporting the consignment.

No further details have been released on the identities or ranks of other persons who may be connected to the case.
