Nigerian Navy Warns Against Fake DSSC Recruitment Notices Circulating Online

The Nigerian Navy has warned members of the public against fake Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) recruitment notices circulating on social media.

The Director of Naval Information, Captain Abi Folorunsho, issued the warning in a statement posted on his X handle on Tuesday.

Folorunsho said the fake notices purportedly advertised openings for DSSC Course 30 and listed qualifications in fields including medicine, engineering, law, information and communication technology and other professions.

He stressed that the notices were not issued by the Nigerian Navy and that the DSSC recruitment exercise had not commenced.

“The attached DSSC notices are not from the Nigerian Navy and have been circulating all over social media,” Folorunsho said.

He added: “The Nigerian Navy DSSC recruitment is not out, and when it is, the information will be posted on my page, the official Nigerian Navy website, and official social media pages. Please do not let anyone scam you.”

The warning came a day after the Navy announced the commencement of its 2026 Batch 39 recruitment for the Nigerian Navy Basic Training School.

The Batch 39 recruitment exercise is scheduled to run from October 2 to October 31, 2026, with eligible applicants expected to apply through the Navy’s official recruitment portal.

The Navy has also warned applicants that the recruitment process is free and cautioned them against making payments to anyone claiming to facilitate their recruitment.

Eligible applicants for the Batch 39 exercise must meet the Navy’s stated requirements, including Nigerian citizenship by birth, possession of a National Identification Number and specified educational, age, physical and medical conditions.

The Navy clarified that the Batch 39 Basic Training School recruitment is separate from the DSSC recruitment referenced in the fake notices.

Members of the public have therefore been advised to rely only on the Nigerian Navy’s official website and verified social media platforms for information on future DSSC recruitment exercises.
