Nigeria’s Ambassador Danlami Ibrahim Presents Credentials to Somalia President

Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Kenya and Somalia, Ambassador Danlami Ibrahim, has formally assumed his diplomatic responsibilities in Somalia after presenting his Letters of Credence to President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.

Ibrahim presented the credentials to the Somali president during a ceremony at Villa Somalia in Mogadishu, marking the formal beginning of his diplomatic assignment in the country.

The development was announced by Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement published on its official social media platform on Wednesday.

The ministry described Ibrahim as Nigeria’s High Commissioner-designate to Kenya, with concurrent accreditation to Somalia, meaning he will represent Nigeria in both countries.

During the ceremony, Ibrahim conveyed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s greetings and best wishes to President Mohamud, while reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening relations with Somalia.

The diplomatic engagement comes as Nigeria continues to maintain ties with Somalia across areas of mutual interest, including regional cooperation, security and diplomatic relations.

The presentation of credentials is a formal diplomatic process through which an ambassador or high commissioner is officially recognised by the host country as the representative of their government.

Ibrahim’s new assignment is expected to further deepen Nigeria-Somalia relations as both countries pursue greater cooperation on shared regional and international interests.
