
Nollywood has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of veteran actor and entrepreneur Solomon Akiyesi, whose passing was confirmed on Monday by the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN).
The actor reportedly died in his sleep on Sunday, with colleagues describing the incident as unexpected and deeply distressing. His body has already been deposited in a mortuary in Abuja, where the incident occurred.
President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Abubakar Yakubu, confirmed the news and said the guild is still awaiting official clarification from the family regarding the circumstances surrounding his death.
According to Yakubu, Akiyesi went to bed but never woke up. He described the development as painful for the film community, noting that details remain limited at this stage.
Born in Edo State, Solomon Akiyesi built a long-standing career in Nollywood, featuring in several popular productions over the years. His performances earned him recognition across the Nigerian film industry.
He appeared in notable films such as Heart of a Saint, Desperate Ladies, Pretty Liars, and Bridge of Contract, showcasing his versatility on screen and consistency as an actor.
News of his passing has triggered an outpouring of grief across social media, with fans, colleagues, and industry stakeholders expressing shock over the sudden loss of the screen star.
