Galatasaray have received a boost ahead of Friday’s Turkish Super Lig clash with Kasımpaşa after Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen returned to partial team training.

Osimhen, who has been sidelined by a groin injury, joined his teammates for part of Tuesday’s training session at the Kemerburgaz Metin Oktay Facilities under head coach Okan Buruk.

Galatasaray confirmed the development on social media, showing the Nigeria international taking part in the opening stages of the workout.

The 27-year-old later continued with an individual programme prepared by the club’s medical team as he works towards a full return to action.

The session began with a dynamic warm-up before the squad moved into 8v2 passing drills. The players then worked on possession exercises and finished with a small-sided game.

Midfielder Mario Lemina and goalkeeper Günay Güvenç completed the full session with the rest of the squad.

Defenders Wilfried Singo and Roland Sallai, however, continued their rehabilitation programmes away from the main group as they recover from their respective injuries.

Osimhen’s return to partial training is an encouraging sign for Galatasaray, but the club is expected to manage his workload carefully as he regains full fitness.

Galatasaray are assessing Osimhen ahead of Friday’s home match against Kasımpaşa at Rams Park, although his involvement will depend on his fitness and the medical team’s assessment.

The Turkish champions will face another major test shortly after the league fixture when they host Spanish giants Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League on October 13.

Galatasaray are scheduled to continue preparations for the Kasımpaşa match with another training session on Wednesday.
