Oyo Police Arrest Two Over Alleged Defilement, Cable Vandalism

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested two suspects in separate cases involving the alleged defilement of a three-year-old girl and the vandalisation and theft of electrical cables.

The command’s spokesperson, Olayinka Ayanlade, disclosed this in a statement, saying a 17-year-old male suspect was arrested in connection with the alleged defilement of the child in Saki, in the Oke Ogun area of the state.

According to the police, the victim was immediately taken to a medical facility in Saki, where she is receiving clinical treatment and psychotherapeutic care.

Ayanlade also announced the arrest of a 21-year-old man in connection with the alleged vandalisation and theft of house-wiring cables valued at about N2.692 million in Ogbomoso.

He said the suspect was arrested at about 5:30am on September 21, 2026, by operatives of the Monitoring Unit attached to the Ogbomoso Base during an anti-crime patrol along Bosunla Street.

The police said officers stopped the suspect after allegedly finding him with a sack containing house-wiring cables believed to have been removed from a building under construction in Ogbomoso Township.

Following the suspect’s alleged disclosure, the operatives visited the location identified as the scene of the incident and contacted the property owner, Salaudeen Rasaq.

The police said Rasaq assessed the damage and estimated the value of the vandalised and stolen cables at N2,692,000.

The command said investigations into both cases are ongoing.
